"Great dream yogis have and may practice the powers of dream shamanism; and great dream shamans are by nature of consciousness dream yogis. As dream yogis and dream shamans attain the higher states of consciousness in meditating, in dreaming, and in creating new futures for society and mother earth, they collaborate with the higher beings of those worlds – devas or angels and sages or guardians – creating an alchemy of consciousness and force to transform the inner and outer worlds – a harmony of heaven and earth".

Dream Alchemy
Samana — or "shamana," as used in this study and work — is the flowing, peaceful or graceful balance and concentration of awareness and power achieved through conscious dreaming that descends into the waking life and enlivens the mind, body and feelings, empowering creative, harmonious and joyful activity. The word implies the integration of knowledge with experience and clarity of perception needed for dream mastery. Samana, in this work, also implies or suggests a balance of the wisdom and introspection of the East with the scientific observation of the West.
The word "samana" arises from the East and the name also represents one of the Ayurveda approaches to healing. In the context of this dream work and consciousness study it signifies: balance, alignment, equality and harmony; mind and body; body and soul; inner life and outer life; dream world and waking world; hatha yoga and dream yoga; calm and empowered. Samana, the harmonizing principle through centered, breath infused and mindful dreaming creates "closeness and tenderness of feeling" – to all of life, especially the inner life, children, nature and those guiding us, the wise elders, spiritual ancestors and spiritual masters. Such tenderness or empathy of feeling creates a resonance to life that naturally creates greater dreams..
Saman, is a Sanskrit word for breath, and the breaths role in meditation, health, self-realization and longevity. Certain ancient Eastern wandering mystics were called samans. The saman mystic has been described to have various powers, including mastery of the dream world, empowered by the "winds" of the breath in dream trance to reach even the heavens and its beings.
Indigenous dreaming traditions have held the awareness and understanding that dreaming, an active experience of the inner life, is key to knowledge, empowerment and service to community.
The art of dreaming is an inner activity and should come under guidance of the soul for manifesting or creating a better world - for manifesting the spiritual goals of life: happiness; prosperity; right or noble purpose; and freedom. Thus, the ultimate goal of Samana Dreaming is to understand the true or original purpose of creative dreaming and to center one's consciousness around the inner creative self, the soul-self, so as to receive higher inspiration, inner guidance, and intuition with the result of coordination of the outer life with the inner life – reclaiming or discovering the powers of soul unique to one's inner nature.

The Soul as Dream Agency and Harmony
To align oneself with heaven and earth, and their overseers of angelic devas, spiritual ancestors and guardians of the elements and earth's creatures, there is an alchemical process, steps to take – like keys to doorways to the kingdom of heaven, or stepping stones on a path to an exquisite garden.
Four tools or skills assist this process:
Each individual has a wound from its separation from the whole, from the inner soul, and within this wound is the secret to its special power and purpose to transform its nature into one of spiritual will, wisdom and creative enjoyment in life.
Soulful, Shamana Dream Work has the goal of achieving harmony of mind, body and soul so that one can live gracefully with awareness – and with conscious intent for one's growth and evolution. When there is harmony there is peace; when one feels at peace one creates harmony.
Four tools or skills assist this process:
- expanding one's consciousness:
- raising the consciousness; and
- opening the consciousness to guiding and transforming forces emanating from the soul; and
- opening oneself to forces or positive energies around one in the subtle environment, those subtle elements of nature – recognizing and working with the powers of nature for a sense of well-being, harmony, peace and connection with all of life.
