Crows as the Universes Messengers for Healing, for our Ancestors and for the Next Life
Various traditions believe the Creator manifested each animal with a specific purpose or role in the universe – such as the crows as messengers between heaven and earth, as deliverers of medicine, such as in in crow shaman and the crow with powers to travel the universe.
Depending upon the region, community and culture, both the dog and the crow have been perceived as: messengers or intermediaries to our spiritual ancestors; having the ability to travel the universe in the subtle and physical worlds; and to be vehicles or means of the Creator or Divine to aid humanity.
It is said the Crows are messengers of the heavens for humankind's ancestors, have an original role in medicine and healing, and are also messengers of the god Yama, Lord of Dharma and Light, who also warns of death's coming. One of the crows special powers is the ability to travel in all directions of the universe. One can see this in a crow shaman, who can travel to all corners of the Earth, warn of danger, prescribe medicine or herbs, and distribute healing energies through the subtle pranas of the subtle worlds.
In Nepal the crow is also considered an ambassador of Lakshmi – a messenger and distributor of her grace – goddess of prosperity and happiness, (and beauty and love throughout India). (Claudia Müller, Christian Rätsch, & Surendra Bahadur Shahi, 2002) p. 240 In Nepal during Thar, the Festival of Lights, honoring Lakshmi, crows, dogs and cows because of their special relationship to humans. A crow is a natural vehicle for an Aumakua, a deva (god) or spiritual ancestor and guardian, due to their early creation connection to the Creator and their access or connection to the heavens.
