Paul Overman, PhD is the author of a number of audio programs including the CD-program series Ten Minutes to Relax guided meditations and is an expert in creativity and the role of dreams in the creative process. I need to have a 'picture painting' to stimulate my imagination and take me on a visual journey, so guided imagery was the way to go. The CD is great! Dr. Paul Overman takes you through three 10-min guided meditations. Each 10-min session is followed by 10-mins of soothing instrumental music to which you can create your own guided imagery. This CD greatly helped to relieve my stress and lowered my blood pressure considerably. When friends started commenting on how peaceful, calm and focused I was (they didn't know I had been using these meditation CDs), I knew I had found the right stress-relieving tool. I listen to the CD straight through for 1-hour 3-4 times a week b/c that is what works for me. Well worth the money. |

It really works! By B. Walton on August 28, 2004 Format: Audio CD The first time I heard this CD had to be when I was in a massage therapy class that I'm taking. We all wanted to relax a little before the massage instruction began, so my instructor put in this CD, and in about 5 minutes we all were completely relaxed and almost asleep. I remember the way I felt when my instructor said that it was time to get up. I just wanted to sleep right there and can you believe this, I was sitting in a metal desk chair. How amazing is that? All I have to say is that this CD really works! |

Imagery is beautiful and relaxing. Really helps release stress, in only 10 min. (as promised). The music interlude at the end could be a bit longer, however, since you get very relaxed and it might be helpful to keep the mood going as you drift further into a calm state. Overall, highly recommend.

How to Use Paul's Ten Minutes to Relax: Peaceful Retreat Audio Programs
Take just ten minutes anything during the day-in the mornings, after work, or even in the middle of your day-to do these simple, revitalizing exercises. All you need is ten uninterrupted minutes.
You can do these programs daily, weekly, or at whatever frequency fits your lifestyle. Of course you will receive the greatest benefit when you do these exercises on a consistent basis. Taking ten minutes to relax every day or two will help you melt away the stress and tension that you accumulate during and average day. A body worker has used these while treating patients, playing them in the background. A psychotherapist reports playing them every night for self-care to assist going into peaceful, rejuvenating sleep.
These guided programs can be done either sitting or lying down. Simply sit in a comfortable chair with your feet flat on the floor and your hands in your lap. If you prefer, you can lie down instead, with your hands at your sides. Yoga practitioners can play them while practicing the yogic "Yoga Nidra pose" to learn to deeply relax and let go into the inner self, with lucidity and internal mastery.
Make sure that the room that you’re in is at a comfortable temperature for you. If you feel cold, use a blanket to keep yourself warm.
